Ode to Dai James
I went to Old Oak Common,
To work on steam trains with B.R.,
This passion for transport and the Railway,
Make us all what we are.
I was also a Retained Fireman,
Something not many knows,
As I worked out of Abercynon Fire Station,
On the old Fire engine with the long reel hose.
It's according to where you know me from,
As I was known by many names,
Like Dai Photos, Dai Copper or Dai Water-board,
But I would answer to them all, Just the same.
For many years I was a Special Constable,
And in work they would take the mick,
But this did not bother me at all,
When I went to work down the local nick.
I will always love my darling wife,
All of my children and true friends,
Those who stayed close while I was suffering,
Right up to the bitter end.
I have to go now to dispatch these trains,
In the little Railway depot in the sky,
For now my family, friends and colleagues,
I will have to say, Goodbye !

Until we meet again. Dear Lord, take care of this man,
Now his earthly life has come to an end,
Always the true gentleman,
And a very special friend.
The loss of a loved one,
Is hard to comprehend,
And a heart so broken,
Is very hard to mend.
Please look down upon his family
And smother them with love,
As he leaves us torn apart,
And he comes to you up above.
Dear Lord, please take good care of him,
As we cry tears like rain,
I leave him in your care now,
Until we meet again !

In your own special way. You no longer have a smile,
Upon your loving face,
Because at this time,
Your life feels a lonely place.
Your heart has been broken,
Because they could not stay,
And your loss feels more barren,
On Valentine's Day.
The unbearable pain,
From such a loss is hard,
So you still write your thoughts,
And your feelings onto a card.
You know they cannot read it,
Because they are with God today,
But this helps you to cope,
In your own special way.

With bitter consequences. The howling winds,
From across the seas,
They hit our homes,
With a whistling breeze.
The choppy waters,
The waves crashing into land,
This stormy weather,
Is getting out of hand.
The rain still keeps falling,
Upon our sodden land,
People trying to save so much,
With their rescue plans.
So many homes are getting flooded,
As water smashes down the fences,
So much personal loss and pain,
With bitter consequences.

15 February 2014In the early hours of the dawn.
In the early hours of the dawn.
It's the early hours in the morning,
And you see many people yawn,
As many have quickly left their beds,
In the early hours of the dawn.
Many still looking tired,
Not fully awake,
So many sleepless hours,
Less than relaxation normally takes.
Some running around like headless chickens,
Because they slept through an alarm,
They need to stop and take a deep breath,
To bring back a little bit of calm.
Then you have the others,
Who work their shifts at night !
Just longing for their beds,
To curl up nice and tight.
No matter what, we will hear the birds,
In the early dawn they sing,
Not knowing what is ahead of us,
Or what this new day brings.

It is hard to hold back feelings.
It is hard to hold back feelings,
When someone close to you dies,
You will feel full of emotions,
And have constant teary eyes.
It is hard to release tension,
With all the worry and stress,
You're trying to fight emotions,
And your head feels like a mess.
It is hard to believe your loved one's gone,
As you seem to constantly cry,
It may take you a while to get over this,
But it's up to you to try.

Without malice or regret.
We open up our hearts and minds,
As we sit down here today,
We will try to communicate with spirit,
And write down what they will say.
We will do this full of laughter,
With love and lots of fun,
And throughout this communication,
We hope to become one.
We don't communicate through use of speech,
We do it all by our thought,
We can communicate with spirit,
Although we may not have been taught.
As our spirit friends come closer,
We ask our Spirit Guides to protect,
So we can write down words of wisdom,
Without malice or regret.

The old railway.
The old railway is not the same,
Since it fell onto Breeching's block,
Stations closed and rail beds raised,
And they got rid of old rolling stock.
These days they are all privatised,
And it's starting to recover,
The track itself run by Network Rail,
The rolling stock by several others.
With a few more new stations opening,
But still less than we still really need,
As the company coffers get bigger,
Due to bigger profit and greed.
Many of the old lines are derelict,
Others are simply gone,
As old land was sold off by B.R.,
And many rail yards built upon.
The railway supplies a public service still,
A lot different to the old B.R. days,
With many companies and shareholders,
And higher safety standards to be praised

Through that extra mile.
A ray of happiness,
A ray of hope,
A ray of sunshine,
To help you cope.
A glancing wink,
A glancing smile,
To help your journey,
Through that extra mile.
With a heart of gold,
And a smile so bright,
You will be watched over,
By your guides at night.

Just believe in your mind.
Don't doubt your own ability,
Don't doubt what you can do,
Don't doubt the messages,
And the things spirit sends through.
Don't doubt you are a medium,
Don't doubt what is in your head,
Don't doubt the love in messages,
As it's only the body which is dead.
Don't doubt what is impressed upon you,
Don't doubt the feelings deep inside,
Don't doubt the strong emotions,
That many people will hide.
Don't doubt when people say No,
Don't doubt when spirit says Yes,
Don't doubt those tingles,
Because spirit knows best.
Don't doubt you have a special gift,
Don't doubt what you give in kind,
Don't doubt that you can do it,
And just believe in your mind.

In our hearts and minds forever
A young life has been taken away,
Due to long illness and suffering,
So much heartache and pain,
At the start of this year's spring.
Even though ill for so long,
You would always go that extra mile,
Singing songs and laughing often,
Just to see you mam smile.
So many children are heartbroken today,
With the loss of a school friend,
And you all stayed close in touch,
Right through until the tragic end.
The family are all devastated,
A child was taken so young,
The voices of coral angels can be heard singing,
Without a word ever being sung.
Lots of tears will be shed for you,
For such a loss leaves a void,
With a family in tatters now,
And a future together destroyed.
We can all sit in faithful silence,
And say a little prayer together,
By keeping their memories alive,
They will stay in our hearts and minds forever.

I often sit and wonder
I often sit and wonder,
What life is ahead of me ?,
I often come back with the answer often,
Whatever will be, will be!.
In life we will have many troubles,
Full of anguish and very sad,
Loss of children, aunts and uncles,
Grandparents, mams and dads.
There will always be someone,
To talk to you at times like these,
Who will be there to listen,
And help the sadness to ease.
Life may be full of sadness,
But there will also be some joys,
When relatives, friends and loved ones,
Have their baby girls and boys.
So if you are feeling sad right now,
Reflect on the happy memories,
For through life we will cry lots,
With many happy and sad tears
