Poems - September 2010

Cloud formations

The cloud forms in the skies above
Come in all colours and shapes
The wind and atmospheric pressure
Never the same form it ever makes

You look and smile upon the vision
That reminds you of an animal or a face
Also shapes of cars and trees
Or a special island place

If you see something up in the clouds
Take a photo very fast
The moving cloud formations
Means the vision will not last

The clouds may be colourful
Or just the normal white and grey
Seeing something that makes you smile
Will really make your day

Many times, you will be criticised

Many times, you will be criticised

For your spiritual beliefs

Ignore their negative comments

Because you’re human underneath

Remember you have free will

And an open mind to pick

Don’t take too long to make a choice

But also don’t choose too quick

Religion is not essential to everyone

But it will help you through a loss

A prayer can always be made

And it is free of any cost

It is up to the individual

If they want to go to a church to pray

It can be more personal if you want

And you can do it any way

So brush aside any criticism

Because ignorance is bad

And you can talk to spirit

When you are feeling sad

If you feel unhappy now

If you feel unhappy now
Because you have been unwell
You are feeling very pitiful
And you've gone into your shell

Some treatments have side effects
Many people don't appreciate
But when you're really grumpy
They think it's them you hate

Explain how you are feeling
With the drugs you daily take
It's not them you are angry with
And it's the drugs which make you shake

If you feel unhappy now
You want to feel loved again
Say what needs to be spoken about
When your full of hurt and pain

Be prepared for the worst

Be prepared for the worst
The older you grow
Because people will die
Whom you will know

It is an inevitable fact
For some you will have cried
Because of that special bond
Before they had died

For many were ill
With an illness sustained
Constant help and care needed
No dignity regained

For them it is a blessing
But for you, the heartache goes on
There is suffering no longer for them
Now they have moved on

Enlighten the mind

Enlighten the mind
Encourage the soul
Always be positive
But stay in control

You can let spirit in
For them to pass on
A message of meaning
From those who have gone

It's up to you to stay calm
To translate what they give
Remember you're in control
Because you still live

You can block spirit out
If they send stuff you hate
It's your mind they're using
Just close down the gate

You just need to stay focused
Working with spirit light
Let your mind float freely
Like an eagle in flight

Snow instead of rain

The summer months are over
The autumn is here again
It starts to get depressing
Because of the constant days of rain

Now is the time to take control
To stop the colds and flu
Try not to stay in wet clothes too long
Or it will be, the doctors for you

The seasons are still changing
This year it is quite late
But it won't be so bad
If your health is really great

Be prepared the winter is coming
When it will be colder again
The wind will turn to blizzards
With snow instead of rain

Park bench views

As I sit alone on this park bench
No one to call a mate
The park seemed very quiet today
When I walked in through the gate

I sit there nice and quiet
At the scenery all around
The nice short tendered grass
Neatly trimmed throughout the grounds

The summer flowers are wilting
And the trees turning to autumn brown
The squirrels and the busy birds
Collecting food fallen down

This time of year when seasons change
It is nice to sit down in the park
The daylight is drawing in so fast now
Soon it will be dark

When a child leaves this earthly life

When a child leaves this earthly life
No matter of the reasons why
It pulls upon your heartstrings
And brings tears to your eyes

We feel for those who have lost their child
But words are very hard to say
So we do the only natural thing for us
Hands together we will all pray

Every loss is so very different
Due to medical problems or just fate
You will meet with them one day again
When you walk through heaven's gate

Poems - October 2010

When he opened up his cards

Today was the Birthday
Of my late dad
I should be very happy now
But instead I'm feeling sad

It is now over 7 years
And days like these are still hard
Because we miss the smiles and comments
When he opened up his cards

On days which we used to celebrated
Now we feel so down
But to help us feel like smiling
We think of you as Chubby Brown

Dad you're not forgotten
As you look down from up above
Because we miss you so much still
Every day we send our love

The loss

The loss of someone special
Is very hard to take
And you are now unsure
What the future will now make

Your life now feels in ruins
The loss tears you apart
You don't know which way to turn
Because it has broken your heart

Many changes will now be made
Through legal paperwork and letters
This may by upsetting now
In time it will feel better

The loss of someone special
Can change your thought process
Because the loss is so sudden
Your mind is in a mess

I thought I saw an angel

I thought I saw an angel
Looking right at me
The figure was so faint
I could not really see

I closed my eyes for a moment
To see more clearly
But the only image there
Was a reflection of me.

I heard a voice so clear
So calm and so sincere
"An angel comes in many forms,
Without wings sometimes, you see"

I asked within my thought process
So why did you pick me?
They replied, "Because you help so many,
And it comes so naturally"

Say a special prayer

You were in my thoughts today
And to show I really care
I sat down on my own
To say a special prayer

It is to help give reassurance
That you are not alone today
I put my thoughts together
To say a special prayer

I didn't know them very long
But because our paths did cross
I send a prayer and my respects
To help ease your tragic loss

When you are feeling lonely
Be reassured I am there
For today and for the future
I will say a special prayer

Big Freeze

On the misty murky mornings
When the darkness seems so long
The temperature is bitter cold
The wind seems really strong

The winter months are drawing in
Stormy weathers back again
The frosty cold mornings
Instead of the autumn rain

Don't under estimate the weather
This year is another big freeze
When the winter kicks in fully
It brings the nation to its knees

Bearer of bad news

To be the bearer of bad news
Is not the best part to take
But someone has to do it
For the deceased persons sake

It can be very emotional
And family can hit out
This is the shock and grief state
Some will also scream and shout

A death is always very sad
For a relative or friend
But some are ill and in such pain
Right to the very end

So if you have to break sad news
Stay calm and take a deep breath
Expect a bad reaction to news
Of a loved ones death

Poems - November 2010

The city skyline

The city changes daily
As they start to build up high
The capital investment crews
Filling up into the sky

Where once you could see far beyond
To the hills and vales
They have now built buildings higher
Just to gain the extra sales

Homes now blend in beside the city stores
As they rebuild and regenerate
Business premises turned into flats
Once they have moved to relocate

The exterior colours seen in the daytime
But the skyline changes more at night
Where a business office had lights turned off
Now people's homes are full of lights

The poppy is a symbol

The poppy is a symbol
For those who have gone before
Whilst fighting for this country
Sometimes in times of war

So many killed in battle
By a bullet or a device
Lots suffered wounds and scars
Which were not very nice

Sights seen that lasted a lifetime
Leaving a psychological scar so unkind
Many seen their friends killed or injured
And colleagues bodies left behind

Through wartime things happened
Because orders were being dictated
Although they did the necessary
Many of things were personally hated

Every year we dedicate the heroes
And all with many thanks
Army , Sailors and pilots
Frontline Infantrymen and those within tanks

I know you cannot protect me

I know you cannot protect me
From the daily sun and rain
But your spiritual help is needed
With the suffering and pain

The family are still heartbroken
Since that fateful Sunday
When we watched, you take the last breath
Before your life drifted away

Our lives were ripped apart
With the loss of our dad
I think of all our happy times
But a part of me still feels sad

So when I am vulnerable
And deep inside I am feeling bad
Share your words of wisdom with me
And I will know it is my dad

I know I can't see you again
But your memory still lives on
Because I missed you every day the same
All the time, which you have gone

The Snow

The white coloured mountains
On the snow covered hills
The arctic winds blowing south
Bringing us the early chills

White cars and vans parked in the streets
Some abandoned on motorways
Children all exited again
To get out and use their sleighs

The sight is very picturesque
Many dangers lurk below
As the holes and dips are covered over
With a blanket of deep snow

With snow topped branches
The trees all look so nice
This could be a problem thou
If the snow turns in to ice

Poems - December 2010

Like a bridge over troubled waters

Like a bridge over troubled waters
Induced by lots of drink
Man can only take so much
Before it gets to the brink

With off the cuff decisions
Which may not be the best to take
It is not the right thing to do
Or the right point to make

Like a bridge over troubled waters
Unimportant things will flow away
In the river of life we live in
Decisions may from day to day

Like a bridge over troubled waters
Your life must move on
Don't push yourself into depression
Thinking of the loved ones gone

Wintertime is here again

Wintertime is here again
Time to cough and sneeze
Weather below zero again
Causing everything to freeze

Trouble going walking
It is even worst in the car
People trying to live their lives
But not going very far

The need for daily items
Some potatoes, milk and bread
We don't want to hurt ourselves
But we could end up unfed

Wintertime is here again
Time to take real care
Stay safe and wrap up warm
If it's not needed don't go anywhere

On this New Years Eve

As the New Year approaches
We are about to leave 2010
So much loss and misery
We don't wish to relive again

The loss of a precious loved one
Or a close true friend
This year has tugged at our heartstrings
Right to the bitter end

As we try to look forward
To a New Year in the morrow
We won't forget what 2010 brought
With so much bitterness and sorrow

Whilst many will celebrate
On this New Tears Eve
We think of all the loved ones
Who sadly had to leave
